There are always milestones that mark events in your life, right? When you move to a new place, for example, and then something happens that makes you realize how long you’ve been there.
This senior session was definitely a milestone for us.
Denton and I moved to Wolf Point in the end of January 2012. It was cold, half icy, half muddy and we only really knew Denton’s family that lived north of Poplar. We got to know Howard and his family the same week at Bible Study, when he was just, what, 12? TWELVE?!?
We have been friends ever since. We see them every week at Bible Study, we share with them in Bible education, we have parties together, and we have many good memories of games shared on cold winter nights. Memories like getting stuck at their place in a blizzard when our trusty Subaru couldn’t quite get us up the road and Howards dad had to push us out, then break drifts off the road for the next ten miles for us 🙂
Because we see them and enjoy their company on a regular basis, and we a part of each others lives, it’s hard to see the time pass objectively, to see the change that happens to us all.
Then, all of a sudden, we’re not going to their place to have a game night with the Skinner’s and their little boy, we are going to shoot that boy’s senior photos, because he is graduating high school this spring.
How does it happen?! How do we become so blind to what is happening right in front of us until is slaps us in the face and makes our vision clear? Either way, even though it seems like we just moved here, we have had the privilege of being a small part of this young mans life for the past few years and we have loved it.
It was a treat to get to be able to do his pictures, and in a place that means something to him, his families ranch. I’m not sure what the next slap of reality will be, but I hope we are able to experience it together and continue with this family forever, we love you!
