Ok, so technically we are in the northeast corner, but still. Our family just moved to our small town of Wolf Point over the summer. They moved here from Billings, Montana which really is centrally located, but at the edge of the Rocky Mountain Front, the wind there was terrible! We lived there in Billings for a couple years after we got married, and I hated the wind! It was so strong, sometimes we couldn’t even open my mother in law’s screen door because the wind would blow against it so hard! So, Denton and I have bragged about our location here on the northern border ever since we moved, that there is no wind here and it is so great. No wind, no wind, no wind, blah, blah, blah . . .
Until this year.
This has been the windiest, chilliest year in our six years here! So now when the wind blows, our family looks at us as if we’re crazy, and we just laugh because they’re probably right. Ha.
So, the day that we had scheduled this beautiful families session, it was one of those days. All day long, the wind was howling, 30 MPH gusts and sustained winds that never gave a break.
Seriously, those kinds of days are hard on me. I love the quiet, beautifully lit, peaceful days for sessions. Who wouldn’t?! I don’t love the day’s that are ugly and cold and cloudy or windy.
You know what I do love about those days, though? It’s the people and families who make it great, even when the weather is not 🙂
Adriann and I had been in touch about possibly rescheduling, the wind was so strong and it gave the air a chilly bite in late October. We both wanted their pictures to be great, but we didn’t want to put it off for various reasons. We agreed to meet and see how it would work, and if the wind was just impossible, we would reschedule to a time that would work for both of us.
We got to our schedule spot to meet them. We got out and walked around a little bit to see if there was a protected area. Thankfully, this spot was perfect for this day! It was down over a hill, the timber protected us, the sun was the right direction. It worked! So we were able to not only shoot the entire session, but to enjoy every minute of it!
Adriann and her husband Griffin and their two boys were just fantastic. They are a beautiful family, inside and out! They are both active in the community, working at coaching school football and with the Fort Peck Health Program.
Each time we do a family photo session, one of the highlights for me are the kiddos. It’s a joy to see the fresh life and vibrance and enthusiasm they have. Adriann and Griffins’ two boys were some of my favorites to work with. When mom and dad would tell them to take a couple more pictures, to smile and quit messing around – They did! They were such obedient, happy, good natured and willing boys, and their love as a family and for each other as brothers was so easy to see.
We hope that you see the love and happiness in the family that we had the privilege to see, its such a beautiful thing.
Adriann and Griffin, you have a beautiful family and we thank you for inviting us into it to share some of these moments, we hope you love them!
