When trying to decide what to write about this wonderful family session with SCOTT and Stephanie, there was really only one option.
Usually, I like to focus on the family, and the values they have- what binds them together and makes them unique from others. However, anyone who knows the McGowan family already knows how great they are.
I could talk about how sweet the kids are, how lovely the parents are, but you can look at the pictures and see that.
I’m going to spill the beans on myself here and confess my embarrassment…
You see, about 6 YEARS AGO, Denton and I repainted a kitchen for Scott’s mom and dad. That was literal years ago. Since then, we’ve seen them around town, heard their names at brandings or dinners, but never really spent any time with them.
Yet, on this evening, I could not call SCOTT by his name! I repeatedly called him by his father’s name. Now is this insulting? Not at all, it’s his father.
Was it mortifying for me? Absolutely!
Now, you may ask, why could I not call him by the correct name? I’m sorry, I just don’t know. I have rarely had that sort of brain block before, but this night was bad. Was it just once or twice? Nope. It was the whole evening, and if you’ve worked with me before, you know that I use your name.
A LOT.
I didn’t even realize that it was happening. I would say something, and Denton would just laugh at me.
So, I would like for this to serve as another testament to how amazing Scott and Stephanie are that they did not get mad and fire me in the spot- I might have!
Seriously though, guys, we had such a fun evening with you! It was a pleasure to spend time with you and your family. I do really love being able to be a part of your family just for a small time. I love seeing your family from the perspective of the images that you will have sitting in your home, and knowing that you are getting images that will forever be the representations of your family as your children grow and mature. They will always look back on that image and that will be the picture of their family that they remember. That is so important. Thank you for letting me play that small part. Also, your children were such a joy! To see their easygoing relationship and their interaction together and with you is really such a testament to who they are, but also to who you are as parents. They are free to be themselves and express themselves and they are happy. That only applauds the efforts that you put forth as parents. So good job to you all! Here are a few of my favorites- I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did taking them!
This sweet little girl was patiently waiting to give these flowers to her mama. So precious!
