As Abbie’s daddy took his place for his first look with his daughter, I backed away to set my camera. As I looked up, he was already wiping his eyes.

The sun was bright, it was a hot summer day, but the fact was- he was about to see his little girl as a bride for the first time.

I will fail miserably if I try to capture that emotion with words, so you can scroll through to see those beautiful moments…

We love all of the couples that we get to meet, we really do, and it was no different with Ben & Abbie. It feels like we made new friends, and getting to see the easygoing, classic, and just plain awesome way they enjoyed their wedding day made us love them even more!

Now, every couple is unique. They have their own specific style, personalities, and quirks.

And each couple’s bridal party is unique.

For me, the bridal party and getting to interact with them on a wedding day is so fun, and it’s a privilege for me to get this sneak peek into my couples’ lives! It serves as a highlight, it gives a sense of who the couple is, and who they choose to surround themselves with.

Some are quiet and easygoing, some are rowdy and loud, but they always give an overall feel to the wedding day.  

For Ben & Abbie, their wedding party complimented their classy, tasteful wedding perfectly.

I always have a blast getting to hang out with the girls while they’re getting their hair and makeup done, and Denton gets to be with the guys while they’re hanging out and getting ready in their much more laid back way, then we come together after the first look and get to shoot together for bridal party pictures before we move on to the ceremony.

For Denton and I, Ben & Abbie’s wedding party made all of the parts of our day joyful, easy, and just plain fun. As we were shooting, all of the friends were so respectful, fun, and responsive. As we gave some coaching and instruction, they were all quick to follow it, and joyfully.

It was clear to us that they cared very much for Ben & Abbie, and they wanted to represent them well and contribute to the joy and dignity of their day with their attentiveness and cheerful cooperation.

As Denton and I left the wedding day, we were deeply impressed and appreciative of the honor, respect, and love that the bridal party gave to their bride and groom.

So here’s to you! Thank you to you all for representing the true values of the Montana way of life. 

Another highlight of the wedding day was just getting to see the way that the Herzog and Larson families interacted with each other. It was obvious that there is mutual respect and admiration there, and it was so refreshing and heartening to see that displayed without walls!

For me, it was such a true spot of happiness to see the way that Misty and Jodi got along, and just their true, cheerful personalities on the day of their kids’ wedding! They were laughing, teasing, and sharing moments that to me, is a whole lot of how a lot more people need to be.

Their families have been in the Miles City, Montana area for years, and it was clear that I am not the only one who shares this admiration of these families… Denton and I were impressed to see the steady stream of people walking across the prairie to the ceremony site even as the dust plume arose from the multitude of guests that were still on the way.

For a state that boasts  just 6.86 people per square mile, the fact that nearly 500 people came to join these families in this celebration speaks volumes of who they are and the character that they come from.

All of this, and I didn’t even mention Abbie’s first look with Ben, or the ceremony and the beautiful vows that you spoke to each other… why?

Well, because I’ve done enough talking, and now it’s time to enjoy the pictures from the weekend so you can see for yourself 🙂
