This anniversary session has been a long time in the making!

20 years, to be precise 🙂

I don’t know what to even write about this session! I’m not even finished editing the whole session, and I’m still speechless 😀

I mean, once you start looking at the pictures, you’ll know what I mean.

We have been close with Jurgen & Dawn for years, and we love them so much more than words can ever sufficiently describe. Who they are as people, what they stand for, and how they live their lives are all examples worthy of imitation.

So naturally, when Dawn mentioned wanting to do some pictures for their 20th anniversary, I was thrilled!

Because of a hard year, and the many anxieties that seem to weigh in on people from every direction, they wanted something that would be fun, and romantic, and give them a boost- plus getting their first pictures together since their wedding!

I had no idea that they had not had any pictures taken together since their wedding day!

So, on top of their 20th anniversary being a momentous milestone anyway, this had the added bonus of being their first official photoshoot together!! EEK!!!

She had a concept of a romantic, boho anniversary session and I remember her being worried and saying, “but maybe we’re not that type of people…” Well, browse on to see how THAT turned out…

There are always issues that cause nerves and concerns about a photo shoot, right? We talked about hair, makeup, finding the right clothes, what location we could use, all of it.

We had zoom calls and texts back and forth about outfit choices, hair, makeup, location, and all of the things that go into a photo session. It was fun for me to be able to be in on the planning stage of a session!

From my perspective as a friend, I know that Dawn is always classy, put together and extremely beautiful. I have always felt that way- I remember meeting her years ago and thinking that she was a striking woman, on top of having a fun, easy going personality.

But, human nature what it is, we seldom see in ourselves what others see in us, right? So, as we were planning the photo session and Dawn had concerns about various things, my one strongest desire was to be able to have a fun session, yes, but also to be able to capture it in such a way that my friends (both of them!) would be able to see each of themselves as the way that we see them- as truly beautiful, vibrant, essential beings! So, I have to say, I was a bit more nervous on this session than I normally am. I wanted it to be great!

As we where shooting these pictures, I knew that Dawn & Jurgen had killed it at styling and execution, I was just hoping that I was holding up my end! Then as I was going through the images at home, it was soooo hard to cull them out, even though we had fifteen images of the exact same shot- I wanted to keep them all because they were just so beautiful!

I have to say, I am so proud of my friends for their tenacity and endurance in the face of trials.

But, above being wonderful humans and beautiful souls on the inside, they also may not realize how beautiful they are on the outside, as a couple and as individuals! So, Dawn + Jurgen, I hope that you can see yourselves just a little bit from our perspective as you go through these pictures!

Now, these are my friends, so I may just be partial, and while I could talk about them all day long, I know that I just need to let the pictures speak for themselves and leave it up to you to decide if this anniversary session was a success…
