We met Jon + Brittany earlier this summer, and have been planning and waiting for this session for months!

It’s so much fun for Denton and I to get to meet our couples. For us, photographing an engagement session and/or wedding isn’t just a job, and our couples are not just clients. I know that it sounds clichéd, but we really do feel like we make new friends each time we get to work with one of the amazing couples that we meet!  It’s fun, pure and simple.

We have the privilege of meeting them at one of the most exciting points of their lives. They have found each other, that one person that they want to spend the rest of their lives with, and they are making plans for something that is going to last.

They’re happy, excited, and nervous- all at the same time.

Let’s be honest, it’s the worst feeling when you’re nervous. You feel like you’re the only one who has this reticence, this feeling of awkwardness. But, let me tell you, if you have felt nervous on a photoshoot, you are far from alone! I guarantee that the majority (and I say majority because rarely, we will meet someone who loves the camera) of people feel that same way!

For Jon + Brittany, they were both experiencing those nerves and jitters!  I only know this because they told me- I would never have known from working with them on this day!

In our initial zoom chat, they both expressed wanting to have fun on their wedding day, and not being frustrated with having a photographer in the way all the time. I totally understood, and assured them that working with Denton + I is meant to be fun, and CREATE good memories that they look back on and love, because they were having a good time at the moment that those images where taken!

The same holds true with an engagement session.

That is our time to get to know our couple, to get comfortable and really mesh together. We love getting to do engagement sessions, because it’s a little sneak peak of the relationship that we will have on the wedding day. We’re able to walk in as friends instead of strangers, and enjoy the wedding day with the couple, instead of being in the way or making them feel awkward. We have that connection and bond from already working and enjoying our time together.

Even though we enjoy developing this relationship with so many people, each couple is unique, so each connection and friendship that we make is unique. That is part of what makes life so enjoyable!

Jon + Brittany- you are such a beautiful combination. Your connection with each other and your dynamic as a couple was so enjoyable to be around and witness, and it makes us so excited for what you have in store! Just seeing how easy you laugh and respond to each other was fun to see- we could never tell that you were nervous for this session! Hopefully the images below bring back those good memories, and give you a good start in your life of taking pictures together! We can’t wait for your wedding day- but until then, we hope you enjoy these!
